ICC Arbitration Day Turkey 2019

ICC Arbitration Day Turkey 2019 was jointly organized by the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and ICC Turkey, in cooperation with TOBB on 15 February 2019 at Wyndham Grand İstanbul Levent Hotel. Practicing lawyers, arbitrators, magistrates, engineers, academics, corporate counsel, in-house counsels from chambers, LLM and PhD students showed great interest to the conference which aims to contribute to the development of international commercial and investment arbitration in Turkey, to promote Istanbul as a place for arbitration and alternative dispute resolution as well as the work of Turkish arbitration practitioners both on the domestic and international levels.

At the conference, Prof. Dr. H. Ercüment Erdem, Founder and Senior Partner of Erdem & Erdem and Co-chair of ICC CLP Commission, moderated the Panel on “The Role of the Judiciary in Turkey’s Today Arbitration Landscape”. Prof. Erdem, together with the speakers Dr. Adem Aslan, Abdullah Yaman and Prof Dr. Korkut Özkorkut shared his comments on expected role of the judiciary courts to enhance the perception of Turkey as an arbitration friendly hub in the region and the stance of the Court of Cassation with respect to arbitration and the legislative developments in relation to arbitration.
