Energy Litigation Symposium
Energy Litigation Symposium organized due to the 10th anniversary of the Energy Law Research Institute was held in Ankara Point Hotel on May 16th.The members of the high judiciary, sector representatives, commercial and judicial attachés of the embassies in Turkey and foreign investors planning to invest in the energy sector showed great interest to the Symposium at which the judicial developments were discussed with the beginning of the liberalization in the field of energy law in Turkey.
In the Symposium, Competition and Compliance Expert at Erdem & Erdem and Board Member of Energy Law Research Institute, Att. Mert Karamustafaoğlu was the speaker at the session on "Arbitration in Energy Disputes, Competition Issues and Contracts".
In his presentation, Mert Karamustafaoğlu mentioned the role of the Competition Authority since the beginning of the liberalization of the electricity sector and the approach taken by the Authority regarding the sectoral changes. In particular, Mert Karamustafaoğlu emphasized the ambiguities regarding what the recent ongoing investigations in the distribution sector were referred to and how the Competition Authority will act in the future. He also presented the main elements of legal policies that can be carried out in the sense of competition law for the companies.
