07.05.2026

On Wednesday, May 6, Erdem & Erdem hosted a webinar titled “The Turkish Merger Control Regime in Practice: Navigating the 2026 Amendments” presented by Anıl Acar, Managing Associate at Erdem & Erdem Competition and Compliance team. The webinar comprehensively addressed the recent amendments introduced to the Turkish merger control regime in February 2026 and their practical implications, particularly for cross-border M&A transactions.

During the session, the broad scope of the Turkish merger control rules, which may trigger filing obligations even for global transactions having no/limited Turkish nexus has been examined. The discussion focused on the practical impact of the recent amendments on transaction timelines, closing processes, and overall legal risk management. Key considerations regarding merger clearance procedures before the Turkish Competition Board, as well as prominent compliance risks for legal and financial advisors, were also discussed in detail.

The webinar further explored strategic approaches on facilitating a smoother and more efficient clearance process in line with the February 2026 amendments from a competition law perspective.

At Erdem & Erdem, we remain committed to closely monitoring developments in competition law and merger control, while continuing to provide our clients with strategic and effective legal support throughout complex international transaction processes.
