Dr. Rifat Cankat
Biography
Rifat Cankat is a Managing Associate in Erdem & Erdem, and also a doctor of law, actively instructing courses in corporate law, negotiable instruments law or banking law at both undergraduate and master's levels. He has delivered lectures in Turkish, English, and French, and also possesses academic and professional proficiency in German as well.
A specialist in commercial law, with a particular focus on banking and finance law, Dr. Cankat’s practice encompasses project and corporate finance, private equity investments, shareholder arrangements, corporate governance, and complex disputes arising out of such transactions.
Rifat Cankat graduated from Galatasaray University Faculty of Law as valedictorian, and has a master’s degree from Marmara University, and a PhD from Galatasaray University. His master's thesis is titled "Option Rights in Limited Liability Companies," and his PhD thesis is titled "Related Party Transactions in Joint Stock Companies.
