German-Turkish Chamber of Commerce and Industry 360° Compliance Summit
The “360° Compliance Summit,” organized by the German-Turkish Chamber of Commerce and Industry on May 8, 2025, at the TOBB Istanbul Office, brought together distinguished experts for a comprehensive program addressing various aspects of corporate compliance.
In the final session of the summit, titled “A Critical Area in Corporate Compliance: Sanctions, Export Controls, and Associated Risks”, Ecem Süsoy Uygun, Managing Associate of the Competition and Compliance Department at Erdem & Erdem, participated as a speaker. In her presentation, Uygun provided an in-depth analysis of sanction regimes, export controls, and key compliance risks encountered in these areas.
She emphasized that compliance with sanction lists, which are gaining increasing importance in global trade, has become a strategic necessity for companies. Uygun highlighted that businesses engaged in cross-border operations must establish effective risk management mechanisms in accordance with both local and international regulations. She also underlined the significance of export control compliance in third-party relationships within supply chains, as well as the importance of conducting thorough due diligence and audits in this context.
This session offered participants a valuable platform for knowledge sharing, addressing practical challenges and proposing viable solutions. Throughout the summit, a wide range of compliance topics were discussed, from data protection and employee rights to corporate responsibility and the integration of local processes into global compliance frameworks.
