AHK Workshop: Competitive Concerns in Human Resources Practices
The workshop "Competitive Concerns in Human Resources Practices" organized by the German-Turkish Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK) was held online on Thursday, August 3, 2023.
Merve Bakırcı, Senior Associate at Erdem & Erdem Competition and Compliance Unit, and Umut Özbağcı, CEO of Datassist, took part in the workshop as speakers. The event, moderated by AHK Vice President and Siemens Turkey Chief Legal Counsel and Board Member Att. Bige Yücel, focused on the investigations of the Competition Board in labor markets and the impact of competition law on human resources practices.
In her presentation, Merve Bakırcı explained the basic regulations in competition law. She discussed the Board's process and preliminary investigation decisions regarding labor markets, the Board's recent investigations and the recent HR decision. Att. Bakırcı also provided examples from the practices of foreign competition authorities, and addressed the non-competition obligations between undertakings and their employees.
Human resources professionals were informed about what not to do in labor market practices in terms of competition law at the event, which was well attended by AHK member companies.
