Biography
Elvan Galatalı works as an Associate in Competition and Compliance Department of Erdem & Erdem. Elvan mainly provides legal consultancy on competition law, mergers and acquisitions, data protection, and economic sanctions regimes.
Elvan Galatalı represents a wide variety of leading multinational corporations operating in a wide range of geography including Turkey, Europe and United States in connection with competition law aspects of mergers and acquisitions. She also advises many multinational and local companies on competition law matters. She further represents undertakings in annulment lawsuits and appeals pertaining to decisions of the Competition Board.
She also provides legal assistance and consultancy regarding compliance programs. In addition, as part of the data protection team, Galatalı is involved in compliance projects with applicable data protection legislation, in particular the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK) and the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), for domestic and foreign clients.
She also works in the fields of ethical compliance, anti-corruption and international economic sanctions regimes. She advises on preparation and implementation of relevant policies and procedures, determination of international sanction risks and compliance with anti-corruption regulations.

- Represented two different companies operating as a supermarket and retailer in the retail sector in ongoing lawsuits in administrative jurisdiction regarding the annulment of Competition Board’s decisions.
- Represented an international maritime transport company in an acquisition transaction and prepared the merger control filing that was submitted to the Turkish Competition Authority.
- Represented an undertaking active in glass industry in investigations before the Turkish Competition Authority.
- Represented an undertaking active in the ticketing services and ticketing software market in the investigation conducted by the Competition Board.
- Represented an international food company in an acquisition transaction and prepared the merger control filing that was submitted to the Turkish Competition Authority.
- Represented a leading fertilizer producer in an investigation conducted by the Turkish Competition Authority concerning allegations of information exchange.
- Advised a company active in the payment services and financial technologies sector on individual exemption applications before the Turkish Competition Authority and day-to-day competition law matters.
