Personal Data Protection Board Amends the Exception Criteria for the Obligation to Register with the Data Controllers Registry
With the decision of the Personal Data Protection Board (Board) dated 06.07.2023 and numbered 2023/1154, the “annual financial balance sheet total” adopted by the Board as an exception criteria to the obligation to register to the Data Controllers’ Registry has been increased from 25 million Turkish Liras to 100 million Turkish Liras. The above-mentioned decision enters into force on the date of its publication.
With the amendment, real and legal person data controllers whose annual number of employees is less than 50 and whose annual financial balance sheet total is less than 100 million Turkish Liras and whose main field of activity is not sensitive personal data are exempt from the Data Controllers Registry registration.
